Satipatthana: The Foundations of Mindfulness - Mindfulness of Feeling Tone

In this half day retreat, we will explore the second of the four foundations of mindfulness the Buddha laid out as the pathway to liberation.  We will notice how each experience at any of the six sense doors registers as pleasant, unpleasant or neutral. Further, we will explore how, without mindfulness, pleasant, unpleasant and neutral experiences lead to desire, aversion and distraction respectively. While with mindfulness, experiences of all kinds can be known without needing them to be any different than they are. We can realize, as stated in the Satipatthana Sutta, "And s/he abides independent, not clinging to anything in the world."
