In our spiritual journey, seven ingredients are considered essential for the development of the awakened heart and mind. These factors are mindfulness, investigation, energy, joyous interest, tranquility, concentration, and equanimity. These qualities are both the fuel for our journey and the fruits of our practice. Together they balance the heart and mind and prime them for the deepest kind of happiness. Over the coming months we will explore these qualities and strengthen them in our own experience. The greatest impact will be obtained from taking these programs as a series, however they can also be taken individually.

We will begin with mindfulness. So much has been said about mindfulness, is there anything left to say? Yes! Mindfulness is a quality that is absolutely essential for the transformation of our hearts and minds and we can continue to deepen it over time. In this Friday night and Saturday morning program, we will explore different facets of the jewel of mindfulness, including what strengthens and broadens it and how we can support its development.

Friday night will include meditation, a dharma talk about the seven ingredients of awakening and how we can use them to balance our practice, and time for questions and answers.

Saturday morning will include more in-depth exploration of the first factor of awakening, mindfulness. We will engage in meditation practice, a dharma talk and discussion.
