Our fall selection for the Mindfulness Book Group is Ordinary Wonder by Charlotte Joko Beck.  This collection of never-before published essays was compiled and edited by her daughter, Brenda Beck Hess.  The essays focus on our “core beliefs,” the hidden, negative convictions we hold about ourselves that prevent us from experiencing life as it is and connecting with joy.  With her wry humor and direct language, Joko Beck shows us how to move from thinking to experiencing, from compulsivity to confidence, from anguish to peace. 

This is a six week series meeting every other week from 9/21-11/30.  There are no drop-ins; you must be registered to attend.  The series will start on 9/21, and will meet on Zoom every other week for 6 sessions on 10/5, 10/19, 11/2, 11/16, 11/30. 

 

Students will need access to a copy of the book Ordinary Wonder by Charlotte Joko Beck, and will be expected to complete the readings in between group gatherings.

For the first session, the assignment is to read Part One: Experience.  Please select a short passage to read to the group and share how the passage relates to your meditation practice.  

PRE-REQUISITE: At least one year of Insight Meditation practice or with permission of the instructor, Barbara Dowd.

Class size is limited to 15.
