A Zoom Offering
Pre-requisite: Ongoing Students
We all go through times when it feels like the ground is being pulled out from under us. Whether in our individual lives or globally, at times life can feel overwhelming.
In We Were Made for These Times, Kaira Jewel Lingo imparts accessible advice on navigating difficult times of transition and loss, drawing on Buddhist teachings on impermanence to help establish equanimity and resilience. Having studied with Thich Nhat Hahn for 15 years, her writing reflects his simplicity, wisdom, and commitment to activism. Each chapter offers insight, a guided meditation, and guidance for daily living to help us rest back in the unknown.
This is a four week series meeting every other week from 1/4-2/15. There are no drop-ins; you must be registered to attend. The series will start on 1/4, and will meet on Zoom every other week for 4 sessions on 1/4, 1/18, 2/1 and 2/15.
Students will need access to a copy of the book We Were Made for These Times by Kaira Jewel Lingo, and will be expected to complete the readings in between group gatherings.
For the first session, the assignment is to read the Preface and Chapters 1 and 2 before the first meeting. Please select a short passage to read to the group and share how the passage relates to your meditation practice.
PRE-REQUISITE: At least one year of Insight Meditation practice or with permission of the instructor, Barbara Dowd.
Class size is limited to 15.
