Insight Meditation and Centering Prayer: A Day of Practice and Dialogue

Saturday, October 8, 2022 - 9:30 am to 4:30 am

An On-Site Workshop
With Ted Jones and Guest Teacher, Cynthia Bourgeault

This workshop will explore the similarities and differences between the Buddhist practice of Insight Meditation and the Christian practice of Centering Prayer. The unifying theme will be the emphasis in both on receptivity and interior silence, along with love and kindness. The goal will be to examine how they may be approached as complementary components of a spiritual path . The workshop will include instruction in both practices, as well as periods of silent meditation and contemplation. There will be ample time reserved for questions and discussion.

Cynthia Bourgeault is an influential spiritual teacher, Episcopal priest, author, and internationally renowned retreat leader. For more than three decades, she was a student, colleague, and friend of the late Father Thomas Keating, the founder of the Centering Prayer movement. She has written two highly respected books on the subject: Centering Prayer and Inner Awakening and The Heart of Centering Prayer. Cynthia has also taught  Centering Prayer retreats worldwide, including her acclaimed online course on The Secret Embrace, Thomas Keating's final work.
